White Bird Clinic is a non-profit health and social services clinic offering a robust network of human centered services. Our mission is to provide compassionate, humanistic care and supportive services to individuals in our community, prioritizing those who are unserved, underinsured, unhoused, underrepresented, or otherwise systemically unsupported.
We are dedicated to empowering members in our community to gain control of their social, emotional, and physical well-being through individual empowerment, education and accessibility. White Bird Clinic’s mobile crisis response program, Crisis Helping Out On The Streets (CAHOOTS) has gained national attention as a longstanding public-private partnership which delivers crisis and community health first response, resulting in minimized police interactions, jail diversion, reduced ambulance and hospital visits, and responsive, on-site human services support.
We follow a client-centered model and believe that each person deserves respect for his, her or their process. Our role is to be available to help out where we can, with the least intervention necessary to facilitate a healthy and safe process for everyone. Our de-escalation training provides an overview of assessment and intervention skills so that lay-people can maintain personal safety and recognize when someone might need help.
We have offered this training throughout Lane County and Oregon. Groups that have benefited from our presentations include local schools, churches, social service agencies, local businesses, police departments, EMS first responder groups, and other communities.
Your donation will help our training program to continue providing de-escalation training to community members despite their ability to pay.
