2017 National Cancer Survivors Day
Surviving in the Park

National Cancer Survivors Day® is an annual, treasured Celebration of Life that is held in hundreds of communities nationwide, and around the world, on the first Sunday in June. It is a CELEBRATION for those who have survived, an INSPIRATION for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of SUPPORT for families, and an OUTREACH to the community.
You can live a fulfilling life after a cancer diagnosis – just ask the millions of people who have survived it. Help The Kiona Foundation celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day® with our community’s cancer survivors on Sunday, June 4 at Lake Yosemite in Merced, CA. In an effort to bring attention to the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face, we are proud to present our NCSD Event, Surviving in the Park to Merced California.
The Kiona Foundation has been successful in helping cancer survivors take a proactive approach to their health through advocacy, support services and education but WE NEED YOUR HELP! The number of cancer survivors requesting financial assistance to help with their alternative medical treatments has grown exponentially in the last 5 years.
With the introduction of the possibility that medicinal herbs, including but not limited to medicinal cannabis, can be an integral part of a comprehensive, medically approved treatment protocol, we have seen the number of patients desperate for a solution rise daily. Unfortunately, insurance does not provide payments or even reimbursements to patients for the costs of these very beneficial therapies.
Through our financial hardship program, The Kiona Foundation has provided discounted or free alternative health services to over 200 cancer survivors since 2011. It is our mission and commitment to continue to provide these services, however, the costs associated with the treatment options are a heavy burden to bare.
We are calling on YOU, yes, YOU to help the Kiona Foundation continue to provide these crucial services to the patients that really need them the most! Funds raised for the National Cancer Survivors Day, Surviving in the Park event will help contribute directly to the success of our programs and services for cancer survivors.
