U.S. Tour of Duty is an American revival based on the premise that good things inevitably happen when veterans and nonveterans join forces. We utilize libraries as the civilian equivalent of military bases. Warrior scholars collect, analyze and disseminate intelligence before launching creative, entrepreneurial and community development projects aimed at improving the human condition. The nucleus of the effort is a podcast that advances our strategic objectives. We teach veterans and other civic-minded Americans how to create content for the podcast and thus acquire real world experience.
Some of our participating libraries have fully-equipped studios with trained personnel on the premises, and free online instruction is offered from February 1 to March 31 in partnership with Whittier Public Library. One-on-one and group lessons will be scheduled based on skill/interest level. This workshop is an opportunity to become adept at hosting, producing and promoting your own podcast in addition to collaborating with us. Enrollment is limited.
