Days for Girls
Help Olivia make a difference for girls' education in Senegal
Olivia Bode has just graduated from the University of Colorado and is taking the summer off to support our Days for Girls initiative in Senegal. While studying for her degree in Sculpture and Post-Studio Practice, she has remained engaged in her passions for education and representation of women and girls. Her love for people and art led her to join with Aywa International, whose focus is on utilizing creativity to build a brighter future for the people of Senegal.
Days for Girls aim to increase access to menstrual care and vital health information for women and girls around the world. In many countries, menstrual inequity and period stigma is an undeniable driver of school absenteeism, classroom and public shaming, missed opportunities, and more, all of which lead to more inequities. Having equitable access to menstrual products, as well as access to reproductive education empowers women and girls to participate in all aspects of life and not miss out on opportunities because of their periods.
Olivia will work at Aywa’s headquarters in Malika, and our more remote base in Kedougou, to work with the Senegalese people to expand the opportunities available to women and girls limited by inaccessible menstruation care.
