Puget Soundworks Auditions - Fall, Holiday 2022
Puget Soundworks is an all-gender, LGBTQIA+ centered community chorus serving the Puget Sound region. We strive to make the world a kinder, more inclusive place, one song at a time. Puget Soundworks welcomes LGBTQIA+ people and their allies and embraces diversity of all kinds. We look forward to hearing you in our auditions!
Audition information:
Use this form to schedule your audition time. There are two audition dates available. Virtual auditions (held over Zoom) will take place the evening of Wednedsay, August 10. In-person auditions (hosted in our rehearsal venue in Seattle) will take place the afternoon of Saturday, August 13. Notifications of audition results will be sent to all participants by Saturday, August 20.
Please prepare 16 bars of a song for the audition. Choose something you can sing comfortably in your range. Happy Birthday or another song you can sing from memory is fine. You are welcome to use sheet music. You will need to provide your own accompaniment, or be prepared to sing a cappella. After performing your song, the Artistic Director will run you through some simple exercises to test your musicianship (e.g., pitch matching) and vocal range. Sight reading skill is not required to sing with Puget Soundworks, and there will be no sight reading during the audition.
Singer information:
In-person hybrid rehearsals will begin Wednesday, September 7. Regular weekly rehearsals are 6:30-9pm in Seattle. Our expectation is that singers will prioritize in-person attendance at rehearsal whenever possible. We also offer Zoom rehearsals as an accommodation (e.g., to participate remotely when a singer is sick or traveling or unable to arrange childcare). Our live main stage concert will run December 2-4. A full rehearsal and performance schedule will be provided after auditions.
COVID safety protocols will be in place for all in-person chorus gatherings, including all rehearsals and performances. All singers must be fully vaccinated with at least one booster, must wear a high-quality mask at all times while indoors with the chorus, and must follow health screening and check-in procedures on arrival to any shared space. In the audition registration form, you will be asked to upload a copy of your vaccination record showing your full, up-to-date COVID vaccination, and to sign a COVID waiver.
In Puget Soundworks, kindness is one of our core values. We have developed a Code of Kindness that explains our mission, values, and truths, and governs how we engage together in community. You will be asked to sign the Code of Kindness when you sign up to audition.
We ask singers to pay dues to support the chorus, but no one is ever turned away for inability to pay. Your dues are used to partially defray the costs of sheet music, rehearsal and performance space, and local musicians. You can read more about the dues program and other information about singing with Puget Soundworks on our website.
