I am excited to announce this November I am joining the VOOM Foundation volunteer medical team on a pediatric open-heart mission to Nigeria.  I will be using my skills and experience in medicine to train local professionals while serving those less fortunate. 

Nigeria is a country of 200M and currently has no sustainable open-heart program for children. With almost 50% of the country in poverty and unable to travel outside the country for surgery, children are left with no option for care and extremely vulnerable. 

VOOM has been in Nigeria since 2013 performing open-heart surgery programs with an ultimate goal of a sustainable open-heart program for the country. Our team from Columbia Medical/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital is partnering with VOOM to address this issue.  I can't wait to be a part of the team and assist the people in need.
