Essence of a Lady is excited to kick off the 16th Annual YELL!/Y-ME? Mentoring Program activities for the 2022-2023 school year.

There are 3 ways you can support this initiative and help educate, mentor and empower youth!!

1. Give

Giving to youth to help them develop mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally is one of the greatest powers we have as adults.

Were you blessed to have an adult who saw in you what you could not see in yourself, and they poured into your life when you were young? Did a teacher open their door to allow you to find a safe space when other students were bullying and badgering you?

Did a neighbor, community leader or church member give you nonjudgmental support when you needed someone to talk to other than your family?

Giving is what philanthropy is all about. Philanthropy is giving your time, talent, and treasure (that moola) without expecting anything in return. One of the most common ways people give is monetarily (fec.gov). Time and talent are the least ways to give because each requires you to carve time out of your busy life to be somewhere and create or present something to others. "Many people may want to be involved... but feel overwhelmed by the commitment needed to serve..." (Serving with Time & Talent).

Essence of a Lady has been recruiting women (and men) to give back to youth since February 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia when the Founder, Dr. JoAnn Ajayi-Scott recruited mentors to support the girls club where she taught. Now, we are recruiting adults around the country to join us in our $1 Challenge to pledge at least a dollar to further our mission to educate, mentor and empower 25 3^rd and 4^th graders this school year. With 10,000 people giving just $1, we can provide weekly mentoring sessions, monthly workshops, quarterly culturally-relevant, real-world experiences through field trips or special events, and our annual culminating event to celebrate this school year's success to 25 youth, 25 mentors and 25 family members this 2022-2023 school year!!

You select how you would like to share, and we coordinate with you to use our platforms to share your amazing journey!!

An interpretation of blessing from a biblical perspective to a man’s states, “When God blesses a person, He increases their soul-power. Man can then promote his own wealth using this expanded soul-power. However, when one man blesses another, human soul-power is transferred to another.” (The Biblical Mind, 2021).

Here is an opportunity to transfer blessings from you to a youth or adult.

Essence of a Lady is looking for 25 professionals or business owners to be a blessing by becoming a mentor to 25 youth during this 2022-2023 school year. God has placed strategic partnerships with national mentoring and marketing platforms with us this school year and all professionals will, in turn be blessed with marketing and promotional opportunities for your business!!

Be a Blessing: Become a Philanthropist in our network of philanthropy programs called the Essence Ladies Network (E’Ladies Network- for women) and Empowered Men Network (E’Men’s Network-for men).

You will spend time with a student:

·         1 hour/week utilizing research-based curriculum on a digital platform through our partnership with Cricket Media and their CricketTogether award-winning eMentoring curriculum!!

·         2 hours twice a year with professionals at an event or workshop as a speaker/sponsor through our network of philanthropy programs, E'Ladies and E'Men's Networks.

OR

·         2 hours at a quarterly birthday celebrations or cultural outings as a speaker/sponsor through our Fabulous Females and aMazing Men Business Networks.

AND

·         One weekend/ a year with your mentee at our annual Females are Fabulous/Men are aMazing Empowerment Conference!!!
