About CSS


The CAMDEN SOPHISTICATED SISTERS (CSS) has changed the lives of thousands of youth in Camden City and beyond. Children and their families come to CSS for an opportunity to pursue the Arts and through dancing and drum corps we provide a one of a kind experience. Our philosophy that helped us become one of the best in the United States, specializing in various styles of dance including Drill, Step, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern and Jazz has been successful because we also incorporate social emotional tools that incorporate the right level of accountability and fun to the drill team. Our program has won national recognition and has been positioned and recognized as more than a drill team for the youth we serve. CSS is not only dance, it‘s a safe haven. It’s a support system. It’s a loving family. It’s a way of life. CSS teaches not only the art of dance, but also the power of education and the importance of community service. Our commitment to expanding knowledge and access to dance and the arts throughout local, regional and national communities is achieved via community-based activities and initiatives.


Core Curriculum

  • Music Appreciation- students will enjoy the art of DJing as well as learning percussion.
  • Dance Hiplet/Praise Mime 
  • Percussion and Costume Design
  • Unity Circle- building self esteem while reciting affirmations songs and chants about uplifting our community. 
  • Vocal Coaching
  • Costume Design- Students will also turn old clothes into costumes.
