Sac High Garden Community Service Day
Help us with the new garden on the Sac High campus!
Calling all St. HOPE parents, students, staff and community members to come help rebuild the Edible Sac High Garden!
The garden will serve as an educational tool for students to learn about healthy living while growing fresh produce.
The “Edible Sac High Garden 2.0” program will be in partnership with local businesses, lead by a project coordinator and maintained by students from Sacramento Charter High School and PS7 Middle School both of which are located on the Sac High campus. Each month, students will work together with teams of community and corporate volunteers to assist with various garden projects while learning about the importance of nutrition.
With just one grocery store located in Oak Park, the inner-city neighborhood is considered a food dessert. The primary purpose of the garden will be to provide educational opportunities while also providing healthy options for families to take home. Once thriving, fruits, vegetables and herbs from the garden will also be offered as a supplement for school breakfast and lunch programs as well as provide specialty items for local neighborhood restaurants including Slim & Husky Pizza, Oak Park Brewery, Fixins Soul Kitchen and Old Soul Coffee Co.
