About the Artist:
Sahasra Sambamoorthi’s initial training began under Smt Kalaimamani Ramya Ramnarayan in Bharatanatyam and now continues in Kathak with Prashant Shah and Odissi with BIjayini Satpathy and Nrityagram. A practitioner of the form for 25+ years, and a teacher of dance for 17 years, she has spent the last 10 years devoting her time to new body movements within the traditional adavu structure that allows for variations of rhythm and technique that both challenge the body and increase fluidity.
