Jane's 50-State Marathon Journey
Supporting Girls' Education in Kenya
Jane Lanford, great friend of the Amazing Maasai Girls Project, has recently completed an incredible running adventure: completing a marathon in 50 US States! We are honoured and thrilled that she is marking this achievement by supporting girls' education in Kenya.
ABOUT JANE'S 50-STATE JOURNEY:
"I’ve been running marathons for 42 years. Ten years ago, I heard about a club for people trying to run a marathon under 4 hours in each of the 50 states. At that point I was 56 years old and had done only 10 states, but it was a challenge! And what an amazing and fun journey it became! I made so many new friends, learned so much geography, and always had a motivation to keep on running!
"This April, at age 66, I ran a marathon my 50th state, which happened to be Ohio. I had finished each one as quickly as I could, and my times are all under 4 hours and 30 minutes.
"During the pandemic, I learned of the Amazing Maasai Girls Project and have participated in its Global Run for two years, recruiting friends to run with me last October. Kenyan girls’ education is a great cause to support!
"And so, in celebration of the completion of my 50-state marathon journey, I invite you to give to these Amazing Girls in Kenya! Thank you so much! Or, in Swahili, Asante sana!!! "
The Amazing Maasai Girls Project provides four-year boarding school scholarships to bright young ladies in rural Kenya, who would otherwise have no chance to go to high school. Learn more about the Amazing Maasai Girls Project here: https://amazinggirls.org
