The Humane Society of St. Lucie County is in desperate need of donations to keep our shelter dogs cool.
This summer is expected to reach record highs. Please help us install air conditioning in our dog kennels so our dogs don't have to be in the heat. It can easily reach over 90 degrees in the back where all are sitting in their kennels waiting for someone to bring them home. We currently are using fans to help circulate the air but we need to do better for our dogs.
Please help us provide a comfortable place for the dogs residing at our shelter while they await for their forever homes or recover from procedures done at our Wellness Center. Our staff and volunteers have been doing their best to cool the shelter dogs with fans and plenty of water, but it's just not enough in this South Florida climate.

MATCH CHALLENGE ANNOUNCEMENT 08.17.22
A generous villager has challenged all of you! They are going to match all remaining donations for the air conditioning, up to $10,000. As of today, $29,356 has been raised so far.
"When I first fostered a hard-to-place senior dog for
the Humane Society of St. Lucie County, I saw firsthand how a simple gesture
like fostering can positively change a dog’s life forever. Fortunately, between
my home care and the Humane Society’s help with arthritis medications, we were
able to give Maggie the comfort she deserved in her golden years. Since then, I
have seen the crucial work the Humane Society does in our community to care for
these homeless animals. Through the active network of animal-loving volunteers
like myself, I heard that the Humane Society was raising money to provide AC
for the shelter’s dogs in the kennel rooms. I could not imagine dogs living in
the Florida heat without AC, in addition to all the other stresses of losing
your home! With our offer to match up to $10,000 in donations for AC for the
dogs, my hope is to inspire other people to donate, too. I am so honored to be
able to give back to these animals who truly make my life better every
day."

AIR CONDITIONING UPDATE 06.30.22
For the first time in Humane Society of St. Lucie County history.... OUR DOGS HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!!
A local A/C company, AC Unlimited, has come to our rescue and installed a/c for our dog kennels. They not only gave us a discount but have graciously given us 3 months to fundraise the money for the air conditioning.
