For the past 17 years, Pro Football Hall of Famer and Miami Dolphins legend Jason Taylor has hosted his “Cool Gear for the School Year” program, providing underserved children from Broward and Miami-Dade Counties the opportunity to participate in a “Back to School” clothes shopping experience at Old Navy at the Tower Shops in Davie, Florida. 

 

Cool Gear’s purpose is to help build each child’s self-esteem and eliminate an unnecessary distraction, allowing children to focus on their studies, and not their attire while at school. And while so many of our youth will continue to readjust to in-person learning this fall, the need for new clothes not only continues to exist, but it may be greater than ever.

 

As a result, we are preparing to host the 18th annual Cool Gear for the School Year program…with a twist. 

 

Each child will still be allotted $300, however rather than an in-person shopping event with a local celebrity, our friends at Old Navy will provide personal shoppers helping our young people to see and select their desired items while also working with them on budgeting and money management.

 

We will still have local celebrities placed around the store to add to the excitement of the event and to "cheer on" our young people.

 

Since launching the “Cool Gear for the School Year” program in 2005, the Jason Taylor Foundation has provided nearly $300,000 in clothing to more than 900 deserving young people!

 

The Jason Taylor Foundation is currently on a campaign to raise $18,000 in an effort to provide this unique experience to 60 of South Florida’s most needy and deserving kids. We greatly appreciate your consideration in supporting this effort.
