In 2022, we built and furnished the Kehillah Centre and Public library located in Accra, Ghana. In about 9 months of opening, we have received over 3000+ visits and are one of the best rated libraries in Accra, Ghana.
Students, workers and researchers both local and international are benefitting from the serene and quiet space to get work done and from the books we have in stock. Some Google reviews attest to this below:
“Kehillah is the best library I have been to in Accra! Its quiet atmosphere, clean white walls, and large windows (they open up to gorgeous hill-top views) give you the serenity to think deeply and to create. The library also has multiple floors, with spaces for both adults and students, and it stocks textbooks for the students. The best part is that it opens from 8am-8pm (including on Saturdays), so when I go, I can take a LOT of work with me. To be honest, I wish I could be at Kehillah every workday, lol. Highly recommend!”
The impact of the library as a facility for students in the community has been outstanding and mind blowing to say the least.
Our goals for 2023:
Now that we have a good learning space created, we want to take things a step further by running Educational Programs. We will run specialised programs targeted at improving literacy for adults in the community, providing assistance to struggling students and accelerating learning for all students. We have hired our first Program Manager to help coordinate and facilitate these programs.
Programs For This Year (2023):
In order to achieve the aforementioned goals, we intend to implement the following programs this year:
1. Organise vacation classes for primary, middle and secondary school students
2. Provide Adult education classes at the library to help adults in the community to read and gain some english and financial literacy.
3. Run Coding bootcamp for middle and secondary school students.
