At this critical moment in our history, we need your help to “do” school differently—and to put community and democracy at the center of education.
This Giving Tuesday, our goal this year is to raise enough funds to supply Community Forum 2023 transportation to any SEMIS school that needs it!
ALL DONATIONS RAISED TOWARDS OUR $3,000 GIVING TUESDAY GOAL WILL BE MATCHED thanks to the support of generous anonymous donors!
No donation is too small—every dollar makes it possible for more students to be present and collaborate with their peers. Buses are expensive, and often act as a barrier to students and teachers hoping to join the event.
Donating $25, $50, $100, $250 or whatever amount you can (please consider a monthly commitment, if you are able!), will bring together youth and their teachers from across the region.
More about this youth-centered event:
Once a year at the SEMIS Community Forum we bring students, teachers, partners, and families together from across the 30 schools we work with to share their work and discuss in an intergenerational setting issues of public concern. The Community Forum is an opportunity for youth leaders and activists from Detroit, Ypsilanti, Dexter, and other areas of Southeast Michigan to talk about issues they care about in a community where their voices matter. The day features youth-led presentations on air quality, water safety, green infrastructure and more, and intergenerational dialogue that includes everyone from kindergartners to college students to school administrators.
Thank you for giving as generously as you can to make the Community Forum possible in 2023.
Donations are 100% tax-deductible through our fiscal sponsor, the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative.
