House of Gongs / Gongster's Paradise
A member of Intersection for the Arts
House of Gongs is a grassroots movement and learning space that honors both tradition and innovation on gong-row music. We cultivate artists from different backgrounds through studying, learning and/or practicing art forms from the Southern Philippines and encourage them to bring the traditions into their own artistic creativity and experience. They hold classes on Saturday mornings and are open to workshops, group, semi-private, private lessons. House of Gongs is the organizer of Gongster’s Paradise, a 4-hour concert of different artists who have interpreted kulintang music into their different artistic practice and genre. The space was founded by cultural practitioners, Ron Querian and Lydia Querian who find passion in indigenous music and traditions and have put in work in connecting with different tribal communities all over the Philippines.
