Migrant Assistance Fund

Assisting the Most Vulnerable in El Paso-Juárez

"There are many things that can only be seen through eyes that have cried."

Archbishop Oscar Romero

of El Salvador

There comes a time when there are few words to describe the realities in front of us or even within us. Sometimes life can feel like a thin line between what we see and what we cannot fully understand. Life on the border can change often and quickly and these past few weeks have been not different.

We grieve the plight of our neighbors, inhumane conditions, and overcrowded shelters as thousands spend the night on the streets or the banks of the Rio Grande river. We grieve the reality that U.S. immigration policy desperately and urgently needs reform. Our policies impact real families, children, and the lives of many crying out under desperate conditions that too often produce despair.

The situation is dynamic. We are working with 30+ shelters in Ciudad Juárez and El Paso who are generously providing hospitality during this crucial time, as well as supporting those who find themselves without shelter. This fund goes toward pressing needs on both sides of the border such as shelter supplies, jackets, blankets, food, hygiene products, clothes, medications, kids' items, shelter rent & utilities, transportation, and sustaining Abara's Border Response team efforts. Together, we can make a difference. Please consider partnering with us and helping us spread the word.
