Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we at Arms Wide Open have had the honor and privilege to help more childhood cancer families in 2022 than in any year since our founding 14 years ago.
Since the start of the pandemic, the requests for support from families in need have skyrocketed and we have been working around the clock to keep up with the demand.
Because of this, we are focusing on our Family Support initiatives for this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign. Will you help us so that we do not have to turn any families away?
A donation of $2,000 in November will be matched and will allow two families to attend one of our national Hope and Healing Bereavement Retreats. A gift of $500 will also be doubled and will fund two monthly grants for families in need. Donations in any amount will also help us help additional families.
Hope and Healing Bereavement Retreats: Sponsor a Family: $2,000
Arms Wide Open hosts multiple Hope & Healing Bereavement Retreats throughout the country for families who have lost a child to pediatric cancer. These annual weekend retreats are filled with love, compassion, support, acceptance and understanding.
Our retreats focus both on support and working through grief, but they are also about spending a weekend with other families who understand the same loss.
A diagnosis of childhood cancer often leaves families emotionally and financially devastated so Arms Wide Open covers the cost of these important events. Your donation of $2,000 will be doubled and will allow two families to attend a retreat.
Financial Assistant Grant: $500
A childhood cancer diagnosis causes a tremendous financial hardship for most families. Arms Wide Open assists families with rent, food, utilities, gas, medical expenses not covered by insurance and, heartbreakingly, funeral costs.
General Donation: Any amount
Your donation of any amount will allow us to continue supporting families impacted by childhood cancer. Over the years, we have been able to provide over $1,350,000 in grants to families suffering hardship due to their child's cancer diagnosis. This year alone we have served over 135 families.
