Here's why she's dancing for the arts:
The fine arts were paramount to my upbringing and continue to bring me profound joy as an adult. I firmly believe that study of and witness to the fine arts are the key to building thoughtful compassion that in turn creates healthy communities. Sadly, I also believe that there is a lack of value for the fine arts in our current system, which leads to a lack of compassion as a core value. In my writing or movement practices, I strive to use my creative abilities to impart joy and compassion to others and inspire enhanced connectedness and wellbeing in our community.
This year's event is so aptly named - perhaps we will inspire more people to do less and enjoy more. I am dancing mostly for the fun of the project 😊 but also to solidify the legacy of fine arts as a cherished homegrown family tradition and for the realized Center to serve as a beacon of joy and hope for the Harford County of tomorrow.
To each and every contestant and to all who help toward the cause this year, I offer the most heartfelt gratitude and hope for blessings in your favor in 2023 and beyond.
Let's dance!
The Dancing for the Arts Gala is the largest annual fundraiser to support the cultural events programs and general operations of the Maryland Center for the Arts, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization (FEIN 20-3022352) whose mission is to provide a broad range of creative and collaborative experiences in quality education, presentations, and exhibits in all disciplines of the arts; and to build and operate a visual and performing arts center for the region to have greater access to quality spaces to exhibit, present, and participate in the arts.

Thank you for supporting the arts in our region! When you give to the arts, the arts give back.
