Morgan Stanley Black History Month Fundraiser

Benefitting Black Girls Smile, a 501(c)(3) charity

Black Girls Smile was founded with a mission to provide young Black women with education, resources, and support to lead mentally healthy lives. In 2021, Black Girls Smile won the Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health Innovation Award for their culturally and gender-responsive suicide prevention program. With suicide death rates for Black American girls ages 13 to 19 increasing by 182% from 2001 to 2017, programs like this are crucial.


The Innovation Awards initiative aims to identify and fund mental healthcare solutions for children and young adults across the United States. The program specifically addresses the lack of public investment in children’s mental health, and seeks effective ways to connect innovative ideas with capital. The systemic funding gap has only increased with the deepening crisis in children’s mental health due to COVID-19 and ongoing social injustice issues.
