2023 Global 5K

Run, walk, ride, swim, paddle, or roll 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) between March 20-26, 2023, and light the world. ☀️

This global event is intended to bring awareness to the 1 billion people living in darkness every day. When the sun goes down, they rely on candles, kerosene, and wood to light their homes - or oftentimes, they have nothing. This lack of electricity solidifies poverty, leads to poor health, and contributes to global greenhouse gas emissions.

By joining Unite to Light for our third annual Global 5k, you can help bring light to the world. Here's how you participate:

When: March 20-26, 2023.

Where: Everywhere!

How:

1.   Click REGISTER

○  You'll be prompted to enter your information and choose a fundraiser.

■     If you're creating a new team, choose "Unite to Light (organization)" to start. *After completing registration, you'll have the option to create a new team and join that one.*

■     If you're joining an existing team, choose that team in the dropdown menu, and you'll automatically be added after registration. 

○     Pay the registration fee - $10 minimum, $40 suggested per person.

■     Everyone who registers at the $40 level will receive a commemorative Patchstik (a waterproof patch that sticks like a sticker!).

2.   If you're starting a Team:

○     You must register first and join the "Unite to Light (organization)" fundraiser as a default. (step 1)

○     Then, you'll be given the option to start a Team - you can enter the Team name, photo, and details about the cause you're supporting.

■     Any funds you raise on a Team will give lights and chargers to the organization of your choosing.

3.   Share with your friends and family to race together, join your Team, or DONATE to your cause.

4.   Use a fitness tracking app while completing your 5k, then post the screenshot from your app to your social media page to show off your accomplishments!! We'll reshare if you tag @unitetolight.

5.   If you're on Strava, join the Unite to Light Club to train with friends and track your "race" when you're ready.

6.   All funds raised by Teams will provide Luke Lights and Chandler Chargers to their project or recipient organization.

Every $10 raised = 1 Luke Light | Every $30 raised = 1 Chandler Charger.
