What elementary students get to say that their art was on display at a world class museum? Ours do!
Creative City Public Charter School will celebrate its student artists in its 4th annual school-wide student art exhibition at The Walters Art Museum in April. Student art will be displayed in the elegant sculpture court at The Walters from April 20 through April 30, with a special reception and celebration on Sunday, April 30 from 1:00 to 3:00pm. The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
Each of Creative City’s 300 students will have work hung in the show. All students are in grades K through 5. Creative City’s students come from throughout Baltimore City, with a large percentage coming from the immediate Park Heights community. As an arts integration school, Creative City students not only make art in art class, but as a part of learning in all subjects. This student show at The Walters will celebrate the many ways that students learn, process information, and express themselves in our school community. Most student work will be visual, but there will be some multi-media work displayed, as well as some student performance during the April 30 reception.
This event is a cornerstone of our school year and a tremendous public exposure opportunity for our school as well as our partners. While our expenses are modest, there are costs associated with hosting our event. Sponsors help us elevate our student art show to the next level, engaging even more school families and giving our students an even richer experience as we celebrate their accomplishments. They deserve it!
