The only thing more German than drinking German bier right off the ship is joining a stein hoisting competition, or maßkrugstemmen.
The DAS Fest USA Stein Hoisting Competition is run by an enthusiastic team from theGeneva Lake Women's Association. There will be a men's division and a women's division. Space is limited! Advance registration is the only way to guarantee your spot. Registration on the day of the competition might be possible but cannot be guaranteed. We will be using the Official Steinholding rules as our guideline, but hey, we're all here to have fun, so please go easy on the judges.
Can anyone enter?
Absolutely! As long as you are 21 years old, with proper I.D. How long does the competition last?
Women typically hold the 5 lb. glass stein for 2 minutes, and it's 3-5 minutes for men.
How much does it cost to enter the competition?
$12 in Advance, $15 Day Of (as space allows). Advance Registration ends August 1, 2023 at Noon.
What does it cost to get into DAS Fest USA?
Admission to the fest is FREE! We also have FREE bus parking, and an onsite campground!
Can I win something? Besides bragging rights? Every participant receives a commemorative DAS Fest USA plastic 1 liter stein, filled with bier of their choice (a $24 value). Winners also receive a prize package and the opportunity to compete in the Championship Round on Sunday!
Is DAS Fest USA kid friendly?
Heck yeah! We have Knockerball, a carnival, and a wooden shoe carver. They'll love the Dachshund and Corgi races and Glockenspiel show. Plus, the Thrivent family tent (right next to Stein Hoisting) has free family games and activities all weekend!
