Who are we? Glad you asked!
The Lived Experience Council (LEC) is a passionate group of individuals who have lived through homelessness and came together with the same mission in mind: making sure those with experience of homelessness have a chance to be included at the decision-making table when decisions are being made regarding systematic policies that we felt contributed to our own personal episodes of homelessness.
Our main goal since the beginning of this council has been to remove barriers to inclusion by inserting ourselves at all tables within Dane County Homeless Service Consortium (HSC) and within groups that oversee and create changes to our homeless response system.
We do this by collaborating with agencies that are funded within the Continuum of Care (CoC) by bringing unique and diverse perspectives of voices within the CoC, HSC, and the broader community.
Our efforts have included, but are not limited to, assisting with creating equitable language for program policies and using a racial equity lens to help plan, develop, and evaluate a policy, program, or decision within our CoC that would help us identify potential impacts on institutionally under-served and marginalized individuals and groups to eliminate barriers.
Your donation would allow us to continue supporting the HSC by addressing barriers to accessing homeless service programs for those experiencing homelessness while also helping us to continue to have an impact in how services are being designed for those who are the most affected in our community.
Nothing about US without US!
