My name is Mya Phelps and I am a Senior Biomedical Sciences major at Texas A&M University. Selfless service is something I value greatly as an Aggie, and the VOOM Foundation is the perfect example. I am currently an intern for the VOOM Foundation and the Secretory of the student branch, the VOOM Ambassadors. Each year the VOOM Foundation has multiple medical mission trips to perform open-heart surgeries with the purpose of service the underprivileged and improving healthcare in underserved communities. May 2022 I was very blessed to be given the opportunity to not only be a part of VOOM, but to attend an open-heart medical mission. This upcoming May 2023 I am fortunate enough to once again travel with VOOM to further serve the underserved and aid in improving Nigerian healthcare.
