R&S Fundraiser 2022
Support the academic journey of students experiencing homelessness.
Nearly 1 in 20 children in California will experience homelessness during this school year. Indeed, there are more than ten of thousand children in the greater Bay Area living in shelters, transitional homes, hotels and motels, cars, tents, and other places not designed for or suitable for housing families and children. These children are two times as likely as their housed peers to score poorly on standardized tests in math and reading, three times more likely to be placed in special education programs, four times more likely to drop out of school, and eight times more likely to repeat grades. Not surprisingly, in California, the high school graduation rate for students facing homelessness lags far behind that of their housed peers, which has terrible consequences for diploma-less students and the economy.
CEP volunteers provide caring, consistent, and individualized support, bringing this support to the students no matter where they live. Please donate today so that more students facing homelessness can receive the following:
Free tutoring and mentoring
Backpacks, school supplies, and books
Laptops and hotspots
A safe place to learn and play at our Children's Learning Center
Access to CEP-hosted extracurricular programs like Family Reading Nights and Homework Clubs
