This is 17-year-old Jack Lupo, adored by his family, mom Sarah, dad Mike, and siblings, Michael, Giuliana, and Luciana. Jack has a big, beautiful, very close-knit family who spends at least one day a week together with aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course, Jack's grandma Pat who he is incredibly close to and just LOVES making homemade macaroni with for the rest of the family to feast on! Having just closed out his junior year of high school, when Jack isn't with his family, he can be found on a field playing lacrosse, in a rink playing hockey, or on the greens swinging a golf club. When he isn't physically playing sports, Jack loves watching the NY Rangers, Giants, and Yankees while enjoying some Chipotle.
On May 23, 2023, Jack and his family headed to the ER for what they thought was a sprain, however, sixteen days later, after a STAT MRI, and multiple other tests including a bone biopsy, it was discovered that Jack has Ewing sarcoma, a tumor growing in his tibia bone. When this official diagnosis came on June 8th, Jack immediately had a port placed, and his treatment plan will be, 3 months of chemo, surgery to remove the affected bone and regenerate new bone, and then another 10 months of chemo followed by rehab of course.
Jack is described by his family as being the "definition of a good kid." He's kind, honest, caring, funny, and selfless, and when Jack sets his mind to something, he always finds a way to achieve the goal that he was going after. Overall, he is an amazing son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend. Jack's truly the best of the best in a home filled with laughter, love, family, four dogs, a cat, and a bunny!
While the Lupos are going through the unthinkable, like most other childhood cancer families, they are being pushed to the brink financially and could use all of the help that they can get (as they say it takes a village). After having shattered his heel while at work, Jack's dad Mike has been undergoing surgeries and therapy all while trying to support his family, while his mom Sarah has been working at a radiology office and of course, raising four children. With Jack's diagnosis, they're at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC daily which means that Sarah had to resign from her job, and Mike is only able to work part of the time as together, they are supporting their son during his fight.
The road ahead is going to be a very long one for the Lupos so we hope that you'll consider making a donation and/or sharing Jack's fundraising page to help us spread the word. Let's show the Lupo's that NO ONE fights alone!
