The Food Chain Workers Alliance is excited to be back in DC hosting our annual FCWA Happy Hour and Fundraiser. We look forward to celebrating another year of food worker organizing with our local members and allies. We’ll also honor our colleague Neza Xiuhtecutli for his many years of leadership in building our Alliance and the food worker movement. Join us at Immigrant Food at the Planet Word Museum and raise a glass to support worker organizing!

About Our Event

We are excited to share space with all of you on September 19th to celebrate:

The launch of our new Food Workers Organizing Institute, which builds collective power by equipping food workers and organizers with trainings, strategic campaign support, and trusted peer learning spaces. Through leadership development trainings for food workers, fellowship programs for organizers, and trainings geared towards senior organizers, the goal of this new institute is to build a pipeline for organizers to work with FCWA member organizations and the larger food worker movement. The work of the institute is focused on cultivating skills for worker leaders and organizers for organizing in their workplaces and communities.  Through these three programs,  workers and organizers are able to share strategies, to  build solidarity across the food chain, and to develop relationships and a common analysis of the roots of the issues facing food workers.

The work of local DC-area members, Global Labor Justice-International Labor Rights Forum and Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC) of DC, who will be re-launching their Restaurant Workers' Bill of Rights on the very same day.

How FCWA members, staff and allies are protecting workers rights through policy initiatives and organizing, including city and state procurement work, immigrant rights efforts, and fighting for a transformative Farm Bill.

Whether you buy a ticket, share this event, or join as a sponsor, thank you for supporting these vital programs that help food workers take action and defend their rights.

Note: Ample hors d'oeuvres with vegan options will be served, in addition to wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. This event will take place indoors, but the venue has an outdoor patio area that you'll have access to. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Walle: [email protected].
