Water Drop
Border Angels has left thousands of gallons of water in the desert along paths most commonly traveled by migrants. Due to the implementation of Operation Gatekeeper, one of the US government’s most inhumane border enforcement policies, has caused the death of more than 9,400 migrants. Thousands of daughters, sons, mothers, fathers, spouses and friends have died, the main cause being dehydration. Many more have gone missing and their remains are still yet to be found.
Many more have gone missing and their remains are still yet to be found. Our team leads trained volunteers into the California desert and mountains to leave water and non-perishable supplies for migrants, with the hope that they will save someone’s life.
This work is done in memory of all people that have lost their lives in search of a better one.
In the year 2021, we placed over 1,200 gallons of water along several desert routes, and picked up over half a ton of trash from the desert.
