Will you help a child in need attend Hamptons Art Camp?
Dear Friends,
As many of you know, I serve as Treasurer on the board of Hamptons Community Outreach. When our Founder, Marit Molin, learned that lots of children have nothing to do all summer, she started Hamptons Art Camp, which then grew into Hamptons Community Outreach as we expanded our programming.
This summer will be our sixth summer of running Hamptons Art Camp, and we will welcome over 140 children, of which 40% are underserved.
Will you please join me in giving a child great summer memories by making a donation?
I will match all donations up to $1000.
Thank you,
Nick
Below are some children that need our help:
Jacob is 10 years old with a smile that could light up the sky and dreams of having a fun summer at Hamptons Art Camp in Sag Harbor. Art is his passion, and we would love to find a Camp Sponsor to encourage his talents and help give him a joyful summer experience. Jacob’s dad works full-time cleaning pools and struggles to afford to send him to camp. We are seeking a sponsor to help him attend. Without Hamptons Art Camp, children like Jacob would spend the whole summer in the back of dad’s car waiting for him to be done with work or at home in front of the TV.
Luis is a recent immigrant now living with his family in East Hampton. At 8, he struggles with shyness and has made very few friends in his new school. Our camp program would give Luis a safe, supportive social environment and allow him to make new friends while having fun.
Rosie is 9 and lives in Bridgehampton. Her mother cleans houses and relies on camp to be able to go to work. As a single parent, she reached out to Hamptons Art Camp to see if there might be a scholarship opportunity for Rosie, who loves art. This would allow Rosie’s mom to make much-needed money and also give Rosie unforgettable summer memories.
40% of Hamptons Art Camp spots are reserved for underserved children in our community. As part of Hamptons Community Outreach, the camp and its scholarship program help to bridge the opportunity gap for economically insecure families.
We have designed a curriculum that celebrates creativity, diversity, and community service, along with a hefty dose of summer fun. Campers explore projects with a positive social impact: making dog beds for shelter animals, crafting beautiful soaps for families in temporary housing, and writing cheerful cards for nursing home residents.
Please consider sponsoring a child to attend camp this summer. A $500 donation will pay for one child to attend a week of camp and includes professional art instruction, trained counselors, materials, and supplies. If you would also like to cover lunch and snacks for a child, the cost is an additional $55 per week.
Of course, any amount donated towards Jacob, Luis, and Rosie’s camp tuition will be deeply appreciated. Imagine what it means to a parent when the community says "yes" to their child's dreams.
We also have a few spots still open for paying campers. Here is a link to register your child: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MTA4NjE0
Thank you for your generosity and for believing in a world where all children can have a chance to go to summer camp!
