1st session:
This introductory class focuses on learning basic watercolor brush techniques. We will cover flat wash, gradient wash, wet on wet, dry brush, glazing, wax resist, stamping, rubbing alcohol. Also covered in this course are the characteristics of watercolor transparent paint, color mixing, basic brushstrokes, painting techniques and differences in watercolor paper. Students will also learn about the artist Georgia O'Keeffe and her abstract flowers. Students will create a finished painting to emulate Georgia O'Keeffe's style.
2nd session:
We will use the techniques learned to create a finished painting.
If weather permits we will be painting outdoors. Plein air painting is the practice of painting landscapes or impressions of the outdoors while working in the open air.

Plein air artists are known for capturing the natural light, color and movement of their subject matter.

An additional supply list will be sent after you register for the workshop.
Come to class with watercolor paper 140 LB pad, brushes and watercolor paint of your choice.
