Urban Troubadour Latin America's Influence on Popular Music April 2025

K-6, Fall-Spring, Friday Mornings Only

Jane Berkner, flutist and Artistic Director of Urban Troubadour, teams up with James Marron, Head of Classical Guitar Studies at the University of Akron. Students will learn about the use of the flute and guitar in different world cultures through a program of music that includes classical, folk, Latin American jazz, and pop tunes. A Greek myth about the flute is told, and the history of the guitar is traced from Spain to Mexico, including music from the Disney movie Coco.
