Sarah's Cause Cornhole Bags Fundraiser
Custom Cornhole Bags by Killer Bees Cornhole (ACO Approved)
Sarah's Cause had its beginnings in May of 2014 for a memorial walk on what would have been Sarah's 6th birthday. Sadly, Sarah passed away suddenly due to sepsis on October 10, 2013. To honor this sweet little girl’s life, the Orton Family created the Sarah Jayne Orton Memorial Foundation at the Baltimore Humane Society at that time.
In 2017, we incorporated and officially became a 501(c)(3) organization known as Sarah’s Cause, Inc. (see www.sarahscause.org) and 100% of all funds raised are donated to animal shelters around the area such as and including: Stray Haven Humane Society in Waverly, NY, and the Baltimore Humane Society in Maryland. By 2024, Almost 40 different shelters in 8 states have received funds from Sarah’s Cause totaling $180k! We couldn't do this without supporters like you!
Why do we raise funds for homeless animals? Sarah Orton knew the answer to this question at the age of five. She felt she had all she needed: a loving family and a warm home. But for Sarah, the best birthday gift you could give was one that helped homeless animals. On her fifth birthday, Sarah asked that all birthday gifts to her instead be given as donations to the Baltimore Humane Society, where her own dog, Scooter, had been adopted in 2001. Sarah's selfless act inspired her family and friends, and they donated needed items to the shelter in her name. The Orton family continues to honor Sarah's legacy by raising funds for homeless animals.
In 2022, we began running cornhole tournaments in MD and NY to raise awareness and funds and our next Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser is on March 10th, 2024. More information on the tournament and to help sponsor, purchase tickets and to register to play can be found here: https://www.sarahscause.org/cornhole.html
