Purple Thursday is a national day of action during Domestic Violence Awareness Month when people are encouraged to wear the color purple to show support for those affected by domestic violence. On Thursday, October 19th, YWCA Kalamazoo will host our annual Purple Thursday Vigil to honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence and stand in solidarity with survivors. Join other community members as we hold space for remembrance and learn more about what it means to “Know Your Worth, Know Your Rights.”
We are proud to host guest speaker Elizsabeth Patterson to share her personal journey of reclaiming her life as a survivor of intimate partner violence and knowing her worth. YWCA experts will also share information about safety planning and knowing your rights as a survivor. Guests will be able to engage in an interactive art installation to honor survivors and those we have lost to domestic violence.
This event is FREE and open to the public. Space is limited, so be sure to register before it's too late!
