October Letter!
I am TIRED!
The last month or so has been a VERY busy time for me. I’m sure you probably
feel the same way. The last part of September my wife, Donna, and I took a
9 day road trip that was a mix of business and pleasure. We drove almost 1,800 miles
each way. As soon as we got back we had our Annual Labor Day FREE BBQ
Fundraiser, and were blessed with
raising around $12,000 for that event!
Then it was catching up on
all the work that I missed while I was away and helping with the grandkids and
then just the day to day work that comes along. By last week, I was fading
fast! As is always the case, God
knew what I needed. As I was dragging through a particular day, I had a
visitor… Emmett. Emmett graduated from our G.RA.C.E. Discipleship Program
over 11 years ago and he just stopped by to check in. He reminded me that he has not used any drugs or even smoked
a cigarette since he left here. He also let me know he was still
active in his church and doing what he could for God and to help others.
Man… you talk about a needed
visit, I was re-invigorated by hearing
what God had done in Emmett’s life through the work of the Union Gospel Mission!
As you read this, I hope you are encouraged as well. Because this is what your
financial support accomplishes!
As you continue to give to
the Union Gospel Mission, we will continue to create more stories like Emmett’s
and we will continue "Meeting
Needs, Making Change, and Magnifying Christ!"
Serving Christ and the
Community,
Rev. Jon Rector

P.S. Won’t you
prayerfully consider sending a substantial gift as soon as possible!
