Patient Assistance Fund
Helping the most needy who cannot afford medical care!
What is the Patient Assistance Fund?
In our Hands of Love urban outreach programs, we have the opportunity to help some of the most needy. Many are destitute, working as hard as they can just to survive. Where we serve has a large population of immigrants who have come to seek work and new opportunities. Most of the time, however, their dreams are not realized and they are left struggling just to live from day to day. Family breakdown is common, and we frequently encounter women and children in desperate situations: pregnant women with no place to live, teenagers without parents. When they become sick and unable to work, their circumstances become truly desperate. In June 2012, a teenaged orphan showed up at one of our outreaches with a painful broken arm. His parents had recently died and he was struggling just to survive. He needed surgery to stabilize the fracture but because he was not a citizen and had no money, he had no way to receive the surgery he desperately needed. Through the process of finding the money needed to cover the cost of his surgery, the idea was born to create a fund to meet the medical needs of people like him.
How does the Patient Assistance Fund work?
Our Hands of Love Patient Assistance Fund helps people with serious medical problems who cannot pay for their own care and have no other way to receive help. When we assist people through this fund, we do far more than pay the bills. Agape staff is extensively involved in the care of these patients, providing both medical expertise and personal attention to their needs. This gives us abundant opportunities to show compassion and share the love of Christ. In a harsh and unloving world, we have the chance to heal both bodies and hearts. Will you assist us in this work of compassion?
Examples of medical care costs:
