Impact Builder - November 2023 Service Day

...starting our work with Tiny Village Spirit in Richmond

Date: Sunday, November 19 from 100 - 600pm

Impact Builder teens have picked Tiny Village Spirit in Richmond as their focused non-profit for this year. Our Impact Builder teens will collaborate with the youth and educators there, to help transform an empty lot in Richmond into a village with tiny homes, a garden, and a community center for unhoused youth to thrive and grow.

Location: We begin and end our day at B'nai Tikvah. Then travel together to Tiny Village in Richmond. One parent is requested to help with carpooling.

We will spend the afternoon getting oriented to the site and to the project. Together we will paint planters, pull weeds, and clear space for the garden.  The adventure will also include learning more about the mission of Tiny Village Spirit, poverty alleviation strategies, and pizza with the growing community of teens like you dedicated to changing the world.

Teens attending should plan to wear long sleeves and long pants; close-toed shoes (boots preferred) and hats. Water bottles, gloves, and KN95 masks (to keep out construction site dust) should also be brought. (We will have masks and gloves if your teen doesn't have them.)

Please use this form to register your teen to participate in this afternoon event.  If your teen is already enrolled in CCM's "Impact Builder", no fee is needed to participate as this workshop is included in the annual program cost. All other teens are welcome for a subsidized program fee of $20 which includes pizza lunch, transportation, educator costs, and honorariums to Tiny Village Spirit.

Impact Builder is part of the national "Better to Serve" program, operated by a prominent national Jewish Foundation. Costs are supplemented by the program.  CCM works to make all programming accessible for all teens, regardless of their ability to pay.
