Best Start - Health Equity Approach - Workshop

Facilitator Training Workshop for Professional Development

Please join us for The Best Start: An Intergenerational Approach to Strengthening Parenting Capacity and Child Well-being!

WORKSHOP 1
The International Child/Parenting Development Program (ICDP) trains service providers as "Facilitators" of community-based Parenting Discussion/Learning Groups, which support families to strengthen their parent-child interaction.

The evidence-based program strengthens psycho-social competencies of professionals working with parents and caregivers in their practice as well as in their group facilitation.

The program curriculum covers strengthening Parent + Child skills from Empathy to Social/Emotional Learning to Cognitive Development to Self-Regulation/Discipline. Parents share experiences and enjoy learning from one another as they practice implementing the ICDP 8 Guidelines by modeling positive adult-child (and adult-adult) behaviors, communications, interactions, and relationships. As parents gain confidence and empowerment, they support their children's positive development and success in family, school, and community. The program is adapted and effective for all types of Parents/Caregivers and Families! (Facilitator Trainees will be invited to future Certification Training.)

WORKSHOP 2
You have qualified for Workshop II, based on your completion of Workshop I and a Pilot Group! Please join LCFS for this 2-day professional development workshop to learn the more advanced approach in delivering this psycho-social program, supporting parents to help their children develop to their full potential. This includes advancing their health, development, equity, academic success, and well-being, as well as their protection from violence.

ICDP trains Service Providers, Educators, Health & Mental Health Professionals, Social / Case Workers, and Early Childhood Professionals as “Facilitators” of community-based Parenting Discussion/Learning Groups, which support families to strengthen their parent-child interaction. The evidence-based program strengthens psycho-social competencies of professionals working with parents, caregivers, and /or children in their practice as well as in their group facilitation.
