Board Recruitment 2024

Join our Board of Trustees for the Trinidad Coast

The Trinidad Coastal Land Trust (TCLT) has been working to preserve public access and open space along the Humboldt County coast from Little River to Big Lagoon since 1978. TCLT currently manages 26 properties, including several of Humboldt County’s most popular beaches and access points as well as Saunders Park in Trinidad, home to the Trinidad Branch of the Humboldt County Library, the Trinidad Museum, and the TCLT office.

The Trinidad Coastal Land Trust is seeking passionate, engaged individuals to serve on our board of directors. We are looking for board members who are committed to being an ambassador for the Trinidad coast and who feel passionate about integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within our mission of providing coastal access. We are interested in including indigenous voices on our board. We are particularly recruiting board members of diverse backgrounds and with fundraising, accounting, or legal experience.

Board member expectations include consistent attendance to monthly board meetings (1st Wednesday evening of the month), joining a committee (i.e. stewardship, fundraising, outreach, DEI, etc.) participating in TCLT events, and becoming a member of TCLT.

We are seeking to diversify our current representation, skills, and experiences, and encourage applicants that:

Have a passion for the ocean and inclusive public access

Have enthusiasm for and experience in fundraising

Have experience serving on a nonprofit team

Are excited to serve as an ambassador of TCLT

Individuals who identify as Indigenous, Black or as a Person of Color

People of all gender identities, sexual representation, ages, and physical abilities

The TCLT community believes that the wild and scenic north Humboldt County coast is a source of joy and inspiration. Every day, we work to ensure that people can experience the stunning coast from Little River to Big Lagoon by maintaining public access trails; providing educational walks and activities that connect people to place; and involving the community with conservation and stewardship of these lands. We do this because creating a more compassionate and joyful world of people who care for the coast and all its living beings is key to ensuring their protection for current and future generations. If you identify with this vision, consider joining our team!

We will be accepting applications until 3/1/24 or until filled, and finishing interviews before 3/15/24. We look forward to meeting you!
