Shelter Fundraiser
We wanted to tell you about an important update with our Maas in Vrindavan. The widows in the government shelter found out some bad news that they would be kicked out of their current shelter and moved to a shelter far out of the city, away from everyone. We purposely picked our center to be close to this current shelter so many of the Maas could walk over. If they moved to this new shelter, we would not be able to see them. As it is, they sometimes are locked in for weeks at a time in this current shelter and do not have the freedom to go in and out as they please. They only stayed for the shelter and food rations they receive. The Maas were heartbroken from this news as living in the city is what they have been doing for 20-30 years and they would be separated from society and us if they moved to this new location.
White Rainbow Project is asking for donations specifically for rent for 6 of the widows who need a small apartment to live in so they have their freedom and can be close to our center and our partners. Our current budget covers the rent of our two spaces for our center alone. We are now asking for a separate fund that will only go towards paying the rent of these Maas. For 6 of them it will be about $350/month. We want to try and raise $4000 in the next month to guarantee a year’s rent for these amazing women. Help us keep community with these women who have been coming to our center for the past 10 years and so they can have their freedom. Please share with friends who would be interested in helping this specific project for the widows. We appreciate your help and can’t do this without your support!
