

Application for Certification - Senior
Practicing Member
Certified Senior Practicing Mediator Member (“CSPM”).
A person shall be eligible to be a Certified Senior Practicing Mediator Member
(“CSPM”) of CFMA if that person is a Member of CFMA in good standing, has
completed at least 40 hours of training in disputes relating to an advanced
training, such as Elder, Family, Peer, Restorative Justice, or Workplace
mediation.
Any person who is eligible may become a Certified Senior Practicing Mediator
Member of CFMA by submitting a completed initial application form which
establishes the above eligibility requirements by self-certification or
affidavit along with three letters of recommendation as described below and by
paying initial Certified Senior Practicing Mediator Member fees.
The required letters of recommendation shall be from:
mediators who have co-mediated with the person applying for Certified Senior
Practicing Mediator Membership, mediators who are staff members of a public
mediation center, or parties (or a representative of a party) to a mediation in
which the person applying for Certified Senior Practicing Mediator Membership
served as a mediator.
Certified Senior Practicing Mediator Member certification expires and is eligible for recertification if that person has, during the previous two (2) years:
1) remained and continues to remain a Member of CFMA in good standing;
2) completed at least 16 hours of approved continuing mediation education with
at least 4 of those hours devoted to ethics;
3) completed at least 50 hours of service as a mediator; and,
4) completed at least 10 hours mentoring.
Any Certified Senior
Practicing Mediator Member of CFMA may recertify by submitting a completed
application form which establishes the above recertification requirements by
self-certification or affidavit and by paying Certified Senior Practicing
Mediator Member membership dues and recertification fees.
