Thanks to a partnership with the Lefferts Tide Mill & Preserve the Huntington Historical Society is able to offer tours of this historic treasure. The mill is reached by a short boat ride from Gold Star Battalion Beach into gorgeous Puppy Cove, past waterfront mansions and with usual sightings of egrets, ospreys, and any visiting waterfowl. Your guide will explain the workings of the mill, with some related social history, and each tour participant will receive a comprehensive, illustrated booklet.
Please Note: Unfortunately, the boat and mill are not handicapped accessible, and climbing in and out of the boat is necessary. Tour takes about 1½ hours. Children 12 and older are permitted. All tour dates allow the possibility of a rain date the following day. Private tours can be arranged for groups up to 15. These private tours are accessible by a short boat ride only. Please note that neither the boat nor the mill is handicapped accessible. This trip is not available to children under the age of twelve.
Since access to the mill is by boat, some climbing up and down steps, into and out of the boat, is required. Attendance on the tour requires the physical ability to perform these functions.
Advanced registration is required.
