
MassHire Entrepreneurship Shadowing Event
Objective: Follow My Steps Entrepreneurship Program aims to empower youth with practical entrepreneurial skills, fostering innovation, leadership, and community engagement.
Week 1: Shadowing and Event Experience Participants shadow a professional designer and community advocate, gaining insights into event setup and breakdown for a Fashion Show. They attend the event as audience members to understand the impact of meticulous event planning.
Week 2: Program Orientation and Skill Development A comprehensive in-person meeting delves into program details, introduces advisors, and organizes participants into groups. Discussions on entrepreneurship significance and key skills are complemented by hands-on activities. Fundraising opportunities are introduced to seed projects.
Week 3: Challenges, Opportunities, and Skill-building In-person meetings to discuss challenges and opportunities and engage in skill-building exercises. Participants make calls to potential sponsors/contacts, attend Zoom sessions led by advisors, and submit activity reports.
Week 4: Industry Insights and Shadowing Students learn from local entrepreneurs about industry and business approaches. They shadow local entrepreneurs at their businesses, continue outreach to potential sponsors/partners, and attend advisor-led Zoom sessions.
Week 5: Hands-on Event Participation Participants engage in shadowing opportunities at the Shooting for Success event and the Basketball Hall of Fame. They assist with event setup and breakdown, participate in career exploration, and learn from local professionals and entrepreneurs.
Week 6: Closing Ceremony and Reflection The program concludes with a celebratory closing ceremony where students reflect on their experiences and share group achievements. Awards are presented for outstanding fundraising efforts and most contacts/sponsors. Students' initiatives are acknowledged and utilized for future programs.
Throughout the Program: Ongoing Engagement Participants dedicate free time to outreach efforts, attend weekly Zoom sessions, and engage with advisors to nurture entrepreneurial skills and initiatives.
Location: 1441 Main Street Springfield, MA (Main Street Frontside entrance) for all in-person meetings and events.
Duration: Six weeks, from April 20th to May 25th.
Outcome: Participants gain practical experience in event management, fundraising, networking, and industry exposure, preparing them for entrepreneurial endeavors and community leadership roles.
