Annual Appeal - 80th Anniversary

In 1944, a group of determined preservation-minded residents formed Historic Salem Inc. (HSI) to halt the demolition of the Corwin House, now known as the Witch House. Today, HSI continues as the leading regional advocacy group, dedicated to preserving Salem’s rich legacy of historic homes, buildings, and other properties.

Historic Salem has served for eight decades as one of Salem’s key architectural/historical resources and advocates and has been instrumental in establishing official historic districts within the city and nominating several landmarks to the National Register of Historic Landmarks.

We are excited about the future of our fine city, and we know you are too.

Your gift will support:

  • Educational programs - These free or low-cost programs provide historically accurate and interesting insight into the architecture and people that make up Salem’s rich history.
  • Preservation advocacy - Key to HSI's mission, our preservation advocacy efforts ensure that Salem's historic resources are preserved, and that new development compliments the historic character of Salem.
  • Bowditch House preservation efforts - Built in 1740, the Bowditch House is home to Historic Salem, Inc.

Your contribution of any size celebrates your commitment to preserving what we love about Salem, and we are most grateful for your continued support.
