In light of current weather events around the globe - Hurricane Harvey's unprecedented destruction in the Gulf Coast, devastating flooding and landslides across Asia, wildfires raging near home in the Pacific Northwest, and Hurricane Irma's imminent landfall next week - we are suspending our Summer Construction Fund.
Hurricane Harvey has displaced over 1 million people, leaving nearly 50 dead, while over 40 million people in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal are affected from monsoon flooding with over 1400 dead. Each of these disasters bring longterm, multi-faceted challenges that require significant attention, love, and financial support - from all of us. This is not the time to be a passive observer while the water around us continues to rise. Heroic acts are not reserved for film and fiction, but rather they begin by acknowledging each other in our greatest time of need and quite simply showing up.
The call for international action swells and we must answer it in kind. HBI is ever-grateful for your ongoing support, and right now, we earnestly ask you to support someone else. We stand in solidarity with the organizations working to stem the tide of destruction and despair across the globe. For a list of trusted aid organizations check out the links below. If you have information to share, trusted organizations to support, or questions of how to get involved - do not hesitate to reach us: Info@hbint.org
- Hurricane Harvey Relief
- Flood Relief - India, Nepal, and Bangladesh
- Wildfires in the Pacific Northwest
We will reconvene our Construction Fund later in 2017 - stay tuned, and thank you again for all of your support.
Summer, as we all experience, is a great opportunity to fortify infrastructure - from roads to homes to resources. At Health Bridges International we're building a movement, and as is said "many hands make light work". Put your hard-earned tax-deductible dollars towards more than potholes and sewer pipes. Help HBI reinforce our bridge-sustaining pillars: Training, Consulting, Connecting, and Serving.
Our Goal: $25,000 and 25 recurring donors (monthly or quarterly)
Timeline: Now until the end of summer - Friday, September 22nd
Construction Project Opportunities:
- $9,000 to help us hire and train a new nurse for our
Ines Project for Medically Fragile Children
- $5,000 to purchase training supplies for our Emergency Response Together
with the Arequipa Firefighters
- $8,000 to help finish the next phase of our Girasoles Sanos (Healthy Sunflowers) Electronic Health Monitoring System
- $3,000 to purchase mannequins for our Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Make a $100 donation or become a recurring donor (monthly or quarterly) of at least $15 and receive the new HBI Construction Crew Mug to help wake you up in the morning and keep us all working.
Each of these infrastructure investments have long-term, sustainable impacts that your hearts and hands can help build. If you would like more information on any or all of these opportunities, please contact Benjamin Grass - firstname.lastname@example.org. We have more programs, more projects, and more bridges than we could have ever imagined, and we cannot fully support them without you.
Help us meet our construction deadline and then join us to celebrate at our Appreciation Picnic Sunday September 17th 12:30-3:30pm
Overlook Park - 1599 N Fremont St, Portland, OR 97227. Bring your friends, family, and colleagues to our 2017 Appreciation Picnic. Our chance to say thank you for your ongoing support and generosity.
Hope to see you there!
