Emergency Food Relief Uganda 2024

We need your help.

Update 5.31.24

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much to those of you who gave to our emergency food relief effort.  Our community of single moms and their kids received food today and they were so very appreciative. We couldn't have done this without your help!

I hate to ask…but we are halfway to our goal and have another couple communities who are truly in need. Parents and kids alike are consuming only one meal a day of porridge and eating unripe mangoes (An excess consumption of raw mangoes can result in gastric problems like diarrhea, indigestion and stomach pain.) School is back up and running and the kids have no food all day.

If you are able, please consider giving.

Sending out love and gratitude,

Joanne

Dear Friends,

Moms Yes We Can, a group of single moms living in the Magada community, are in desperate need of food. Because the rains came late this year, the upcoming harvest is late and there is no food left in their storage units. These single moms live from season to season and are reliant on mother nature to do her thing. These are the people most affected by climate change. We need to provide these families with emergency food.

Breastfeeding mothers are unable to produce enough milk due to a lack of food Families are resorting to eating one meal a day made of porridge, water and corn flour, which offers almost no nutrients. Moms are picking cassava that has not yet matured, which can cause children to get sick with distended bellies.

Both moms and children are losing weight drastically. Children are supposed to report to school starting today. Because most government schools do not provide breakfast or lunch, children will have no food until dinner and will not be able to concentrate on their studies.

Please consider donating for this emergency.

  • For $13, you can feed one person for a month.
  • The average family in Magada, Uganda, has eight people. For $128, you can help a family survive for one month by providing them rice and beans

Our goal is to raise $15,000 for emergency food. Please join us.

Sending out love and gratitude,

Joanne
