aSTEAM Village NSBE Jr 2024- 2025 Annual Robotics

IMPORTANT: Please read this very important information thoroughly before completing the application!

aSTEAM Village is now accepting applications for the 2024 - 2025 EnVision Innovation Stadium Design, RedTails Digital Engineering Academy, FIRST Robotics, FIRST TECH Challenge, Future City, National STEM League Racing Challenge, Student Spaceflight Experiments Program, PowerUp: Cyber Security and Try-Math-a-Lon Season.

Program cost is $500 per child. There is a $100 discount for each additional child.

Registration fee is $100 and due upon receipt of the invoice at time of submission of this registration form.

$5 of the program cost is applied to your child's aSTEAM Village NSBE Jr. Membership.

Student participants must commit to regular attendance of practice sessions, agree to participate and compete in the 51st Annual NSBE Convention in Chicago, IL March 5 - 9, 2025 and all other competitions.

This year's season will begin on Friday, September 13th for 4th - 12th grade students and Saturday, September 14th for 1st - 3rd grade students.

Limited Space is available with priority being given to applicants who have successful participation in any of the previous 8 years of aSTEAM Village annual programming or who attended summer camp in June and July of 2024.

For participants that participated in the 2023 - 2024 Annual Program Year and the NSBE 50th Annual Convention, ALL account balances for programming, registration and the annual $500 fundraising commitments must have a zero balance to rejoin the program. Either you met the financial commitments or you must meet those financial commitment prior to applying for entry into the 2024 - 2025 program.

In order to participate on the FTC and Ten80 Radio Controlled Racing teams, your student must be in high school or middle school or they must have successfully completed and competed at least one year of FLL Robotics as well as competed in a sanctioned FIRST Robotics competition.

Applicants will be accepted based on the qualifying criteria and their behavioral performance at school, home and if applicable, their 2023-2024 aSTEAM Village Summer Camp and participation in any or all of the previous 10 years of the Robotics and Racing program.

Acceptance into the aSTEAM Village program is on a first come, first serve basis and there is a mandatory parent/student interview prior to being accepted into any of the aSV sanctioned programs.

If your child is not accepted into the aSV program, we will recommend a program that your child can attend as it is our goal to make sure that every child has the opportunity to participate in a STEM/STEaM education after-school program.

Practice times may vary, and consistent attendance is mandatory for participation.

Students may be required to travel for competitions and exhibits.

This year's robotics, Ten80 race car engineering, Try-Math-A-Lon competitions are being held in Chicago, IL. during the National Society of Black Engineers 51st Annual Convention in Chicago, IL, March 5 - 9, 2025.

Travel usually requires overnight stays and release from school day.

If your child is required to miss a school day for competition, we have a form to be given to the school requesting an excused absence for an education event.

$25 Security Deposit is Applied towards the Full Payment of the $100 registration fee which secures your child's spot in the program.

The $25 Security Deposit and the $100 registration fee are non-refundable, no exceptions.

A spot reserved denies a spot for another child.
