*How sponsorship fees are spent: Our sponsorship program is our largest stream of funding. We use the funds to benefit each and every child. Economic conditions in this country are very volatile and quite expensive. At a bare minimum, the kids are in school and they eat their staple food, Sudza, a food similar to grits. Currently (as of July 2017), they receive one piece of chicken on Sundays - this is their only protein. For breakfast they eat bread. For this reason, we've established tiered levels of sponsorship. If you can afford a higher tier, such as $50 per month or $90 per month, these extra funds go toward purchasing extra food. Funds are also used to pay our excellent staff of teachers and caregivers, because without them, we do not have a program. If you would like to sponsor a different amount of money each month, please choose our "Greatest Need" fund. It all goes to the orphanage to help cover all of these expenses, but it does not attach you to a child.
How child sponsorship works: With our child sponsorships, BFGO chooses to operate a little differently than other organizations. We will guarantee you at least 1 (usually 2) updates per year including a photo. We will let you know how the child is doing in school and any other general information that we can. The child is allowed to write you letters if they choose, but due to the sensitive nature of their lives, they are not forced to write. Some of our children have experienced severe trauma linked to their orphan state (whether abandoned, surrendered, abused, or the sudden loss of parents, etc.) Likewise - we invite you to write to your kiddo at least 1 or 2 times per year, but it is not required. Your child will know your name and would appreciate a photo of your family. They are all very grateful and hopeful but not all of them are relational. Our sponsorship manager, Elaine, will keep you posted as to our travel dates and give you ample notice to prepare letter if you choose. (We hand deliver them.) Please feel free to direct any questions to Elaine@BeautifulFeetGo.org.
We cannot accept gifts for the children. With nearly 90 children in our orphanages, we have to keep things fair for each child. For this reason, at Christmas, we do request additional (optional) funds to help purchase a gift for each child. Thank you for your understanding.
