Dear Friends of Children’s Concert Society,
CCS has been bringing the joy of live musical performances to Summit County area children since 1947. Its all-volunteer board chooses professional Ohio ensembles to enrich the musical education of preschool-grade 12 students in public, private, parochial, charter, and home schools. We offer a diverse blend of artistic experiences to over 30,000 students in the greater Summit County area every year through our three main programs:
1. Concert Hall Experiences at the Akron Civic Theatre with Free Transportation:
- Fall 2023 - Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (Grades 4-8)
- Spring 2024 - Nightingale Opera Theatre presents “Alice in Wonderland” (Grades K-3)
2. FREE In-School Concerts:
- Teachers and administrators may choose from 16 professional and University of Akron graduate student ensembles. (Preschool-grade 12)
3. Scholastic Composers Contest - NO Entry Fee:
- Student compositions are judged by University of Akron Music Theory professors. 1st place winners present at a live premier performance, and scholarships are awarded to each winner. (Grades K-12)
Please consider becoming a patron of the Children’s Concert Society to continue the gift of LIVE music to the children in our community. You will be helping create many musical memories for students who might otherwise not have the opportunity to experience live performances.
Without the support of patrons like you, we could not have reached our milestone 75th Anniversary! THANK YOU!
