Impact Builder - January 2024 Overnight Adventure

...Continuing our work with Tiny Village Spirit in Richmond

Date: Sunday, January 14 at noon - Monday, January 15 at 1130am

In honor of Tu B’Shevat and MLK Jr., we will spend the afternoon planting an orchard at Tiny Village Spirit, Richmond. Teens are invited to join for the whole overnight or just the afternoon of service. (For those only doing the afternoon of service, their day will end on Jan. 14th at 5 pm.)

The overnight will include a shared dinner, a movie night, learning more about poverty alleviation, and planning a mini fundraiser to support Tiny Village Spirit.

About Impact Builder & Tiny Village Spirit:  Impact Builder is CCM's service learning project. This year, teens have picked Tiny Village Spirit in Richmond as their focused non-profit for this year. Our Impact Builder teens will collaborate with the youth and educators there, to help transform an empty lot in Richmond into a village with tiny homes, a garden, and a community center for unhoused youth to thrive and grow.

Location: We begin and end our day at our host facility. Then travel together to Tiny Village in Richmond. One parent is requested to help with carpooling.

Teens attending should plan to wear long sleeves and long pants; close-toed shoes (boots preferred) and hats. Water bottles, gloves, and KN95 masks (to keep out construction site dust) should also be brought. (We will have masks and gloves if your teen doesn't have them.) Teens spending the night should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, pajamas, a change of clothes and toiletries.

Please use this form to register your teen to participate in this afternoon event.  If your teen is already enrolled in CCM's "Impact Builder", no fee is needed to participate as this workshop is included in the annual program cost. All other teens are welcome for a subsidized program fee of $60 for the overnight or $20 for the afternoon only.  Fees include meals, snacks, transportation, educator costs, and honorariums to Tiny Village Spirit.

Impact Builder is part of the national "Better to Serve" program, operated by a prominent national Jewish Foundation. Costs are supplemented by the program.  CCM works to make all programming accessible for all teens, regardless of their ability to pay.
